Cars of the Motor Social – ’78 Custom Corvette
As they register, we would like to feature some of the cars that you will be seeing on the former casino floor during the Motor Social at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City.
For our inaugural post we are featuring a 1978 Custom Corvette built by Tony and his sons.
I’ve had it stock for about 4 years and decided to have some father/sons time and restore it. Before u know it… the body was off the frame and lambo doors were being installed. LOL..Surprisingly the project only took about a year or so to accomplish.
I pretty much had to pick my jaw up off the floor after reading that it only took around a year to finish the car. I’ve seen multi-year projects that didn’t look this good.
One of the most touted aspects of the car hobby is how it can bring familes together, as they spend time toiling and tinkering with their vehicles. Tony’s build was no different and probably made even more special due to an unfortunate incident;
I was with the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and was rarely home so it was a great bonding project to do with my boys. It was awesome to see them tell my wife about their daily accomplishments after coming home from my buddy’s shop. Unfortunately, I was shot back in May of 2017 while attempting to serve a warrant in the City of Trenton and have been out of work since, bringing this project and the time i spent with the boys even closer to my heart.
Glad to see you are still here to share your car with your sons and to enjoy it for many more years to come! Now that they’ve got the car bug, I’m sure it won’t be long until you are helping with their builds.
Thanks to Tony for sending along the pictures of the car and his story. If you want your car featured here it’s simple! Sign up to register for the Motor Social at the Showboat Hotel. If your car has a unique look or story we’d love to hear about it!
